What's included
Additional nursing support available to DVA clients
These services are usually added to an existing plan, or arranged on their own where a clinical need is assessed.
Personal care with clinical oversight
Showering, dressing, grooming and hygiene support delivered safely around wounds, catheters and frailty.
Compression and lymphoedema support
Garment application and removal, bandaging, leg swelling and skin checks, and specialist coordination.
Stoma and catheter management
Appliance changes, skin protection, drainage management, troubleshooting and supply guidance.
Palliative and end-of-life nursing
Comfort-focused care, pain and symptom management, syringe driver support and family guidance at home.
Dementia and cognition support
Routine-based visits, safety and wandering risk review, behaviour support strategies and carer coaching.
Simple treatments and equipment
Suture and staple removal, dressings, ear and eye care, plus referrals for aids, equipment and allied health.
Why it matters
One nursing team, one plan, fewer gaps
Veterans often end up juggling several providers — one for the wound, one for showering, another for equipment — and each handover is a chance for something to be missed. Keeping it with one nursing team means your plan is written once, your history is known, and the nurse who dresses your leg is the same person who notices your weight has dropped.
It also makes escalation faster. If your condition changes, we already hold your baseline, your medication list and your GP's contact details, so the right call happens the same day rather than after another assessment.
Most veterans combine these services with wound care, continence care or health assessments and monitoring.
